    Design and Analysis of Smart Sensing System for Animal Emotions Recognition

    Recently, animal emotion recognition has become an important field for developing intelligent systems for tracking and monitoring rhinos and elephants. In this work, a smart sensing system that helps in detecting animal emotions based on information from physiological parameters obtained from sensors attached on animal body, has been designed. The signals are continuously obtained from a heart rate sensor,galvanic skin resistance sensorand body temperature sensor. After amplifying and filtering of the signals from the sensors are done, they are processed in the microcontroller and transmitted wirelessly using GSM modem and ZigBee technologies.The signals which are received from the system are displayed and stored in the database where they are analyzed visually for patterns. The four basic emotions parameters observed in this project are happy (excited), sad, angry and neutral (relaxed). In this research dog have been used for the pilot study.

    An intelligent real-time wireless sensor network tracking system for monitoring rhinos and elephants in Tanzania national parks: A review

    The advancement of wireless sensor networks yields a variety of wireless sensor network for wildlife tracking. One typical application for wireless sensor networks is in animal tracking and monitoring in wildlife environments. A significant number of studies have been done in tracking animals with sensor networks. However from the recent literature it is observed that there is no much study has been done on an intelligent real time sensor network that is capable to alerting the rangers an incidence of animal poaching before it happened. In this paper an intelligent wireless sensor system for tracking and monitoring rhinos and elephants is proposed.

    Mathematical models for the dynamics of alcohol related health risks with changing behavior via cultural beliefs in Tanzania

    Alcoholism has continually posed health challenges in many communities for decades. In this paper, a more realistic model for health related risks associated with alcoholism is formulated. It considers a population proportion that has social cultural protection from alcohol consumption. In the context of this paper, such protection emanates from religious beliefs. The Next Generation Matrix (NGM) approach is used to compute the basic risk reproduction number. The risk free equilibrium point is proved to be globally asymptotically stable whenever the basic risk reproduction is less than unity and unstable otherwise. The sensitivity analysis of the basic risk reproduction number and numerical simulation results reveal that for effective control of the health risk problem in the community, the deliberate intervention strategies and policies should focus on discouraging alcoholic behaviors on its onset during initiation stage than focusing other population proportions already at risk.
